Together with the tax advantage, Mauritius offers excellent telecommunications, infrastructure and airlinks. Political stability, a good legal framework, investor protection, confidentiality, an educated workforce and reasonable costs of services are other favourable aspects of the country.

Trade has boomed in recent years following the establishment of a freeport sector in the island. From nil in1992 the turnover of the Mauritius Freeport is expected to exceed several million hundred dollars mark in the current financial year. Consistent investment and upgrade of infrastructure have ensured that Mauritius develops into a hub for regional trade. Maurice offre en outre un environnement propice aux affaires: un réseau de télécommunications de pointe, la stabilitié politique, une bonne structure juridique, une main-d'oeuvre qualifiée et des coûts de services raisonnables.

Le commerce a aussi connu un boom récemment avec l'institution du port franc en 1992. De zéro en 1992, le chiffre d'affaires prévisionnel du port franc pour l'année fiscale en cours est de plusieurs centaine de millions de dollars. Des investissements adéquats, l'amélioration constante des infrastructures et sa position stratégique entre les continents asiatique et africain font de Maurice une plate-forme pour le commerce régional.
